Privacy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
Saath is a private space for two people. This policy explains what information Saath handles, why, who helps us run it, and the rights you have. It applies to everyone, and it covers what UK and EU data protection law asks us to tell you.
Who we are
Saath is the controller of your personal information. That means we decide how and why it is used.
Saath runs Saath.
Email support@saathfortwo.com for any privacy question or request.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address, your password (we keep only a scrambled form of it), the name you choose, your city and country, your language and your time zones.
- What the two of you add. Messages, photos, videos, voice notes, moods, plans and your answers to them, goals, check-ins, lists, trips, shared costs, moments, and your taste and date preferences.
- Areas. The home area you add to your date preferences stays private. It is not shown in the app, and it is used only to find ideas near you. Your city is stored separately as a public area, with no street or home address.
- Device and notification details. If you turn on notifications, we store the push subscription your browser or phone gives us, and your alert choices.
- Technical records. Sign-in sessions, security records such as shortened, scrambled forms of your IP address and device identifier used to limit sign-in attempts, delivery and read status for messages, storage use, and error logs.
- Support emails. Whatever you choose to send us when you ask for help.
We do not ask for sensitive information. What you write to each other is up to you, so please share only what you are both comfortable keeping in Saath.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
UK GDPR and EU GDPR require a legal basis for each use. These are ours.
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Running Saath for the two of you: accounts, sign-in, syncing, storing and showing what you share, notifications you switch on, export and deletion. | Contract. We need this to provide the service you signed up for. |
| AI features: finding date ideas for the two of you, turning a note or photo into a draft, and turning speech into text. | Contract. These features are part of the service you signed up for. |
| Keeping Saath secure, limiting sign-in attempts, preventing abuse and fixing faults. | Legitimate interests. We need a safe, working service, and we keep these records minimal. |
| Answering support requests. | Contract, or legitimate interests in helping the people who use Saath. |
| Meeting legal duties, such as responding to a lawful request or keeping records the law requires. | Legal obligation. |
We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone that have a legal or similarly significant effect. Idea suggestions are only suggestions.
AI features
Saath uses Claude by Anthropic for date ideas and capture, and OpenAI for voice to text. Information is sent only when the feature runs, and only what that feature needs. Date ideas are researched regularly; capture and voice to text run only when you use them.
- Date ideas. Your city, each person’s interests, things to avoid, budget, transport, tastes and area from your date preferences, the free times you have shared, the titles and links of ideas you have already seen, liked or passed on with any reason you gave, and which kinds of plans and times of day you have declined. No names, email addresses, chat history or exact coordinates are sent. Claude searches the web to find current ideas.
- Capture. The text or photo you choose to capture, with the names of your shared spaces and the titles of your open tasks, current date ideas and list items it might belong to, so it can be turned into a draft for you to review before anything is saved.
- Voice to text. The recording you make, so it can be turned into text.
We do not send your full history. Anthropic does not use what Saath sends to train its models. Everything sent is used only to provide the feature to you.
Cookies and similar storage
The UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the EU’s ePrivacy rules let us store what is strictly necessary without asking. That is all Saath stores. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not use cookies for tracking.
| What | Why | When |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in. Strictly necessary. | Always, until you sign out or it expires. |
| Storage on your device | Lets Saath work offline, keeps unsent items safe, and remembers your settings. Strictly necessary. | Always, until you sign out or clear it. |
Who we share it with
The other person in your couple sees what you share with them. No other couple can reach your space.
Saath does not sell personal information and does not show ads. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. We use these companies to run the service. They act on our instructions and receive only what their job needs.
| Provider | What it does for Saath |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Database, private file storage for photos, videos and voice notes, and the servers that run Saath. |
| Vercel | Hosts the web app and its API. |
| Anthropic | Date ideas and capture, described above. |
| OpenAI | Voice to text, described above. |
| Apple, Google and Mozilla push services | Deliver notifications to your device, if you turn them on. |
| Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) | Delivers notifications to the Saath app on Android, if you turn them on. Google receives an install id, the push token, the app version and device details, and, when previews are on, the notification’s words. |
We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
Where your information is processed
Your information is processed in the UK and the EU, the United States, India and other countries where our providers operate.
When information leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on recognised safeguards: the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, and adequacy decisions, including the Data Privacy Framework where a provider is certified. Email us for more detail about the safeguards for a particular provider.
How long we keep it
- While you have an account. We keep your account and what you share for as long as your account is open, unless you delete items sooner.
- Account deletion. Email us and we will delete your account details and sessions, and what you posted. See “When sign-up opens” for the in-app tool.
- Backups. Deleted information can remain in backups for a short period before it is overwritten.
- Logs and security records. Kept for a short period, only as long as needed for security and fixing faults.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the right to:
- access your information and receive a copy;
- have it corrected;
- have it erased;
- restrict how it is used;
- receive it in a portable format;
- object to uses based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it, without affecting what was done before;
- not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has a legal or similarly significant effect. We make no such decisions.
In the app, use Settings to export your data. To delete your account, email support@saathfortwo.com until the in-app tool is available. For anything else, email support@saathfortwo.com. We reply within one month.
You can also complain to a regulator. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). In the EU, contact your local data protection authority. We would like the chance to put things right first, so please email us.
If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you similar rights: to know what we hold, to have it corrected or erased, to name someone to act for you if you cannot, and to complain to us first and then to the Data Protection Board of India. Email us and we will reply within one month. Saath asks for your agreement when you create an account, and you can withdraw it by deleting your account.
Children
Saath is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Security
Each couple’s space is kept separate, and every request checks that it comes from one of its two members. Photos, videos and voice notes are kept in private storage and opened through signed links that expire after a short time.
No service can promise perfect security, so please tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.
When sign-up opens
Saath is not open for public sign-up yet. This section describes what will apply once it is. Until then, none of it is happening.
- Sign-in and invitations. We will use Postmark to send sign-in codes and invitations by email. Postmark will act on our instructions and receive only what that job needs.
- Adults and the terms. We will record that you confirmed you are an adult and accepted the terms and this policy, and when.
- Unpairing. What the other person wrote and added will leave your view at once. Each of you will keep what you wrote and uploaded, and will be able to download it for 30 days. Then the shared space will be deleted. After unpairing, either of you will be able to start or join a new space.
- Deleting your account. You will be able to delete your account in Settings. The other person will then be treated as unpaired: they keep what they wrote and uploaded, and nothing of theirs is wiped.
- Payments. If you subscribe through an app store, the store will process the payment. We will use RevenueCat to keep your subscription status up to date for both of you. RevenueCat will receive your account id (a random id, one for each of you, never your name or email address), your subscription details and the store’s receipt. With each request, the RevenueCat library in the app also sends your device model, operating system version, language, app store country, app version, your IP address and, on iPhone, an id Apple gives the app for your phone (not the advertising id). RevenueCat never receives anything you write. We will receive only the subscription status.
- Counting how Saath is used. We will count which features are used, for example that a question was answered, with the day, your platform and a scrambled id for your couple. We never read what you write, and we send these counts to no one else.
- Response times. The app will time how long it takes to answer you, for example how long a photo takes to open or a message takes to reach the other person. Each time will be only a step’s name, the screen, the number of milliseconds, your platform and phone system version, and the country our server sees the request from. It will never include what you write or see, your name, email or account. The last 30 days will stay on your phone (Settings, Help, Response times). A sample of them will go to our own server at Cloudflare to find what is slow, and will be kept for up to 90 days. The counting switch in Settings will stop this too.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
