New to Saath? The answers below cover the basics.

Getting started

How do I install Saath?

Open Saath in Safari on your iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Open it from there. Notifications only work from the Home Screen app, on iOS 16.4 or later.

What are the four tabs?

Today shows how your partner is, plans waiting on you and what you each shared. Chat is where you talk. Plans holds ideas for things to do, Coming up and Our list. Us holds your goals, trips, lists and Memories.

What does the + button do?

Add or message is the round + button. It is the quickest way to write a message, add a plan, share a memory or ask your partner a question, from whichever tab you are on.

Chat

What do Sent, Reached a device and Read mean?

Sent means your message left your phone and Saath has it. Reached a device means it arrived on a phone or computer of your partner's, which does not mean they have looked at it. Read means your partner opened the chat and saw it. Each label says only what Saath can prove.

What if I have no signal when I write?

Your message waits on your phone and goes when you are back online. See what happens offline, below.

Moods and replies

How do I share a mood?

On Today, tap Share a mood and say how you feel. Your partner sees it on their Today. Tap Update mood when it changes.

How do I reply to a mood?

When your partner shares a mood, tap Reply under it (once you have sent a quick response, the button reads Reply in chat). Your reply opens in Chat with their mood quoted above it, so they know what you are answering. If it does not open, try again; your draft is kept.

Plans

How do plans work?

Plans finds ideas around Bengaluru. Save ones you like to Our list, and turn one into a plan for a day. Once you have a plan, your partner can answer it, and you can see what they said.

What does Booked mean?

Either of you can tap Mark booked on a plan once the table, tickets or room are sorted. It then shows Booked with the name of whoever did it. If you tapped it by mistake, tap Undo booked.

What is Coming up?

Coming up lists the plans you have set, so you can see what is next without searching for it.

Us

What is in Us?

Us is for what you do together over time. Together holds your goals, trips and lists. Goals show your progress toward something, and each of you can add a check-in.

What are Memories?

Memories keeps the things you want to hold on to, such as a photo, a note or a moment. You can add one from the + button, or keep a chat photo or a goal note in Memories from where you are reading it.

Offline

What works without a connection?

You can open Saath and read what it has already loaded. Messages, moods, plan answers and notes you write are held on your phone, and a line at the top says how many are Waiting to send. Tap it to see them.

What does Waiting to send mean?

It means the item is saved on your phone and has not reached Saath yet. It sends by itself when you are back online, so you do not need to write it again. Once it is through, the line shows Sent for a moment and goes away.

Notifications

How do I turn notifications on?

Open Settings, then switch Notifications on for this phone. On iPhone, add Saath to your Home Screen first. You can send yourself a test to check it works.

Can I choose what Saath tells me about?

Yes. In Settings, tap the row that says what your partner can notify you about, and switch off anything you do not want. By default, notifications use generic wording. Switch on Show previews in notifications if you want to see more on your lock screen.

Your data

Can I take a copy of my data?

Yes. In Settings, under Help & privacy, tap Download a copy. It saves your messages, moments, plans, photos, videos and voice notes to your phone or computer, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. It works best on a computer; on iPhone, keep Saath open until it finishes.

Privacy

How private is Saath?

Saath is for the two of you. Only the two of you can read your messages, moods, plans and memories, and photos are kept in private storage with short-lived links. There are no ads, no analytics and no trackers. Saath is private; read the privacy notice for exactly what is stored and who can reach it.
